About our courses

The core intention of Baravara’s courses is to bring together meditation and therapeutic work. We take a holistic view of the human being and work integratively with the body, emotions, and mind to increase inner presence and awareness.

Baravara is a retreat center offering courses in meditation and personal development. The activities at Baravara are not part of health or medical care and do not replace medical, psychological, or psychiatric treatment.

Baravara is oriented toward personal development and exploration. The work is inspired by various traditions of body awareness, self-reflection, and meditative inquiry. Participants are responsible for their own choices, boundaries, and well-being.

Our courses are intended for adults who voluntarily choose to engage in self-reflective group work. Experiences and outcomes are individual and may vary from participant to participant. Individuals experiencing ongoing mental health challenges, psychosis, trauma in an active phase, or a recent crisis are encouraged to seek professional care or guidance before participating.

Our programs are experiential in nature and aim to create space for self-reflection, presence, and increased awareness. The work takes place in a group setting, within a structured environment that provides clear boundaries.

The role of therapy is not to tell you who you are, but to create the conditions in which you can discover this for yourself. Therapy can help clear the ground, but something more is needed for a garden to grow. It removes weeds, lifts stones, and prepares the soil—but that is where its work ends. Only when therapy meets meditation and love can true growth occur, allowing life energy to emerge and a deeper way of being to become possible.

Our course leaders have backgrounds in meditation, group facilitation, and personal development. All of them have worked with their own and others’ personal development for several decades. Many have combined established medical and therapeutic training with practice in meditation-based and embodied therapeutic approaches. We are deeply grateful and proud to offer these therapists, as the idea of creating Baravara would never have been born without meeting them and experiencing their open hearts.
