Gayan and Lars Vedam KnutssonOver the years that Baravara has existed, we have seen thousands of people pass through our doors. After each course, we are filled with the same sense of reverence and gratitude—to be part of, and to witness, how much can shift during such a shared journey. To see faces soften and eyes begin to shine. This is exactly what we wanted to share.
Both of us, each in our own way, needed to experience cancer in order to dare to change our lives. It brings us great joy to see how many people have the courage, curiosity, and willingness to give themselves a gift like this—before body and soul are forced to say no.
To discover and cultivate a sense of love and respect for oneself is an inner shift that makes it possible to meet the world with greater understanding. This compassion creates ripples, and in a time like ours, this feels more important than ever.
Baravara offers courses in meditation and personal development. Our programs are experiential and aim to create space for self-reflection, presence, and increased awareness. The work takes place in a group setting, within a holding and supportive environment that nurtures the individual process.
Baravara is independent and not affiliated with any movement. Our work rests on a long experience of meditation and inner exploration, where we repeatedly see how our thoughts and judgments about ourselves and others can create suffering. We also encounter how difficult it often is to accept life as it is, and how essential it can be to pause, breathe, and be present. As we learn to meet life moment by moment, new choices open up. A deeper sense of presence and stillness can take shape and, over time, influence how we relate to life. This is the foundation of all work at Baravara.
We have taken great care in creating an environment where it is possible to simply be—an experience for all the senses. The food is vegetarian, organically grown, and prepared with love. Surrounding us is one of Sweden’s most beautiful landscapes, with Lake Siljan as a calm and steady backdrop.
